Loose Skin after Juice Fast? Tanya answers your questions

Please note this was sent to us a few days before Christmas – Tanya has now lost over 100 pounds by juicing!!!!
Hello Fellow Juicers,
Just checking in and wanted to say a Big Thank You for reading my story and sending in your questions.
I am now on day 20 of a 24 day fast. Total weight loss is 96 pounds so far. I am traveling home for the holidays and had planned on taking a break from fasting while home. I will continue to juice throughout my time home while also including some healthy meals, soups, and lots of veggies. I am joining in on Joe Cross’s 3 day guided reboot starting on January 6th and Jason Vale’s 5 day detox starting on January 13th.
I received some exciting news about my recent blood work from the doctor. I am now out of the pre diabetic range and all my numbers were great. Blood pressure 100/70 and 90/60. I had it taken in both arms. She actually told me that I have carpal tunnel in my right hand, but I have not noticed. Must be the greens! To celebrate my news I purchased a tandem skydive that I will do in the spring when it is warmer out.
I did jump once 10 years ago and it was fantastic. I never thought I would do it again because of the weight I was carrying. Surprise!!
To answer the question about the loose skin.
I have what I like to call jiggly bits. I carried a lot of weight in the lower abdomen, hips, thighs and legs so that is the area where I see needing the most work. My legs have a little wrinkle to them. I need to start concentrating on tightening and toning everything up, but having a knee injury has impacted how much I could do. Through juicing the pain has decreased significantly, and I have started walking more, but I know that I need to do more. I have been authorized to have a scope done on my knee to clean up scar tissue and I am hoping that will help alleviate the residual pain that I am feeling. In the meantime I will start to use the yoga and tai chi dvd’s that have been collecting dust on my shelf. Along with my rebounder.
I have a gym around the corner from my house and I did join a few months ago, but fear of being made fun of had me cancel the membership before it began. I have made a promise to myself that I wasn’t going to let fear rule me so I am planning on rejoining when I return back home. I use the bike and treadmill in physical therapy so I know I can use those machines and I will start to concentrate on my arms.
On the juicing for dummies fb page someone had asked the same question about loose skin and was referred to an article by a man named Clent Manich who has lost over 200 pounds and says that he did not have any loose skin. This is what he said:
“My skin has been shrinking quit well. I was worried that my skin would be hanging all around my body. I have noticed that even under my arms, inner thigh’s and belly seem to be tightening to the point it is still supporting my fat not yet lost. This is very good news. Once I met a woman who weighed over 500Lbs. before Bariatric surgery, and now she has skin hanging everywhere. She wants to have it removed now. Most people whom eat a Standard American Diet (SAD), and lose a large amount of weight always seem to have sagging or hanging skin around their body. Which may lead to cosmetic surgery. Dr. Donato www.dolphindoctor.org searched everywhere for info on this subject. What he has found is that there is no documentation anywhere that proves that individuals on a SAD have skin shrinkage. Although there is plenty of documentation shown that individuals on a RAW food diet will have their skin suck up and shrink to their natural body mold with very little (if at all) hanging skin. Those that did have some, were able to fill the skin through building muscle mass. The studies show that a RAW food diet helps the skin come alive and bring forth its natural elastic ability back to life. Raw food diets may help your organs rejuvenate back to when we were children and most people don’t know that our skin is the largest organ of our body. I spoke to Victoria Boutenko the other day and she explained that what she has learned about skin shrinking during weight loss is, that the Chlorophyll in the greens and especially from fresh wheatgrass juice, can be responsible. So if you are losing weight be sure to have lots of GreenSmoothies and drink wheatgrass everyday! This is exactly what is happening to me! Because of my natural skin shrinkage, I know I will not have to have any cosmetic surgery! YEAH!!!”
I have witnessed the power of juice through my own journey and believe that continuing to feed my body the nutrients that it needs along with support from exercise will rid me of my jiggly bits.
While fasting I do incorporate a variety of juices and green juices not just the mean green. Variety as they say is the spice of life. And I do like my spices!!
I can’t say for sure that I have battled the emotional eating aspect as I have not had to much turmoil in my life recently but I will share this quote that is in my journal.
“No one can fix your life for you. You need to set out consciously to do it for yourself. You must trust what you know in your bones—that your body is your ally and that is will always point you in the direction you need to go next’. ~Christine Northrup, M.D.
